OpenTelemetry Python maintains one of the largest open-source Python monorepo. Its packages are downloaded 500M+ times a month. Join us to learn 5 things the project does to keep things working.
OpenTelemetry Python is a SIG (Special Interest Group) that develops and manages the Python implementation of OpenTelemetry, the second-highest velocity project in the CNCF landscape (only behind Kubernetes). This group delivers a vendor-neutral observability solution, building over 80 Python packages and counting more than 500M downloads per month. This makes it a peculiar project with interesting technical challenges and scales to share the lessons learned.
For this session, attendees should be familiar with the Python packaging ecosystem. While some familiarity with concepts like monkey patching and the role of sitecustomize are helpful, these topics will be introduced in a practical, beginner-friendly manner.
