In this talk I will give my (highly biased) comparison between Plone and Drupal, these two enterprise CMS's, from the perspective of basic content editing.
University of Jyväskylä in Finland has been using Plone for over 20 years for websites, intranets, custom applications and more. In 2023 our main website was renewed using Drupal. Meanwhile we also have been developing several new Plone 6 sites with Volto frontend.
As a long time Plone user, It has been interesting to learn the new editing experience of Plone 6, and then also using Drupal for the first time. I can also add Plone 6 classic editing experience to the comparison.
In this talk I will demonstrate the new JYU website on Drupal and new websites on Plone and give my (highly biased) comparison between these two enterprise CMS's, from the perspective of basic content editing.
I aim to do a live editing demo.
During the day I work at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland as a development team lead. We have been using Plone for 20 years at the university, and I have been part of it since the beginning. Occasionally I can get my hands dirty with custom CSS fixes and through the web Plone development, which I greatly enjoy.
During the night I do some Plone marketing stuff.
Open source, agile, web development and making the world a little better every day.
